Just a Little Update

Hello all!

This past week has been crazy busy between tattoo appointments, Mother's Day festivities and just the daily routines of a stay at home mom. I am super excited to say that I received my Silhouette Cameo in the mail yesterday!! But of course I'm completely lost still haha, can't wait till I'm a pro at it. Definitely doing more reading and watching tutorials and hopefully getting a lesson or two from a friend who has one :)

I'm still crocheting away at the Daisy Blanket... I think I could do the granny squares in my sleep now. Still a long way to go though... feels endless, but I know it'll be a huge accomplishment when it's done so I can't wait!

Just had pictures printed from my favorite site, Snapfish, so I can continue my Project Life for this year. I'm doing a pretty decent job of staying up to date on it so I'm proud of myself for that! :) I know that S is going to love looking back on the scrapbooks and seeing all the little moments documented.

I think that's pretty much it for my current projects, although something new is always popping up...

I thought I'd give you all just a little glimpse into my "creative chaos" workspace:

We have a finished room in our basement that is all mine! (The husband has a 2 bay garage so trust me he's not lacking his own space either, haha).

 This is my desk/command center.

The "Project Life station". What you can't see is the drawers full of embellishments and binders that accompany this. Along with my printer and tons & tons of stickers... it's become an addiction. ;) Don't tell my husband... I love getting the core kits from Becky Higgins. I probably have enough to do 3 years worth of albums but shhhh... it's never enough. Haha!

The newest "station" has been given to the Silhouette Cameo! :) There's not much more to this station as to the fact that I just got it, but no worries, that will soon change much to the dismay of my husband ;)  (Don't mind the "mess" under the desk, that belongs to my "sewing station")

And what's not pictured is my entire dresser filled with yarn and crochet/knitting materials. And of course my tattoo station.

Oh and for anyone that is curious, that beautiful mural of The Nightmare Before Christmas, you see half of behind my desk was painted by one of my very talented friends that goes by the name Johnny Vandal. He does amazing work! (as you can clearly see...)

Well that's it for tonight, have to start working on one of my many, many projects. But to end it with a smile check out this picture of little S enjoying her first s'mores over the weekend! :)

Daisies for Days

Yesterday I got to celebrate my 26th birthday with my amazing husband and beautiful daughter as well as some close friends and family. I am truly blessed to have such wonder people in my life.

I'm currently crocheting in bed while little miss S is sleeping away. :) (She's only sleeping in bed with mommy lately; good thing we have a King size! ) This is what I like to call "me time"
I'm working on a rather large order for SophieLove Creations. I started my first granny square blanket. Not just any granny square though :) this one is made to look like a daisy. It requires 99 squares total... hence daises for days... Haha! I'm super excited about this project! I'll be doing it in variations of purples and pinks per request. Can't wait to finish this blanket. Hopefully it leads to many more projects of this size!

On another exciting note, within the next week I will be ordering my very own Silhouette Cameo! Took a little convincing from the hubby to spend the money on myself but I'm confident that I will be able to make it worth while.

A calm in the creative storm.

The past few days I have enjoyed a nice reprieve from all the chaos due to a much needed visit with my grandparents from out of state.

I love being with family and I definitely needed a nice little break from all the projects and things I do. I am feeling recharged and ready to pick up where I left off with my creative chaos. :)

Stay tuned...

The Beginning...

Welcome!
I suppose I should start off by introducing myself and what I'm all about.

My name is Rachelle (pronounced Rachel; I still carry some deep seeded animosity about that ;) ). I am a stay at home mom to my beautiful girl, S. I have a wonderful husband, 2 crazy pups and we all live happily in our little home, in our quite town. Life is just short of amazing.

I love my "job" but it has left me with a lot of spare time that I didn't know what to do with. I have always been very crafty and love to create things. I do have to consider myself an artist. I love to draw and paint... and tattoo. Yes, I'm one of those forbidden tattoo artists hehe...

At the end of my pregnancy with my daughter I started to tap into an old skill I had developed as a child... crocheting. I began by making a couple hats for one of my husband's co-workers and for family members. I have fun with it, especially character hats. With enough interest and "orders" I finally started SophieLove Creations. Facebook was my first venture where I introduced my "portfolio".
Which you can check out here >> www.facebook.com/sophielovecreations :)
Recently, I locked my sights on Etsy. Haven't been as successful as I would've liked but hey some things take time. Here's my shameless plug.... >> www.etsy.com/shop/SophieLoveCreations

So that's part one of "my creative chaos".

Part two involves my tattooing.
I love this aspect of my creativity without a doubt. I love creating art that people get to wear for the rest of their lives and I take great pride in my work. I have been doing tattooing on and off for about 8 years, sometimes it was my career and other times it was a hobby. Not really sure what to consider it now but it's a passion of mine either way. I enjoy everything about the process of a tattoo, from the idea to the actual act of doing it. Even more than all that, I love my clients. Nothing creates a bond quite like the bond between the client and the tattoo artist.
So there's another aspect of my chaos that I juggle on a weekly basis. Gotta keep those clients happy!

Part three - a thousand.... (total exaggeration) involves a lot of little components.
There are so many things that I enjoy doing that I don't do all the time but wish I could. I also draw, which I mentioned in the beginning. But I draw portraits and obviously tattoo work for the clients.

I just recently started sewing. (Not that great at it yet but my hearts in the right place,  haha.) I really want to get better at this, I've made a couple things for my precious S but the quality was definitely questionable. So really hoping to master that soon and maybe expand SophieLove to other products.

I'm a graphic designer at heart also. I have been designing logos for companies on the fly recently; and I have a small hand in my BIL's vinyl graphics company. I actually went to school for this but just never really did anything with it. I like the idea of being my own boss so to speak.

Photography has always been in my blood, I look at every day scenes and think "That would make a great image" or "I need to capture this scene". My grandfather has always had the same thought process, he is an amazing photographer and I really think a lot of my influence has come from him. I got my first "big girl" camera for Christmas, and it is my favorite toy ever! My Canon Rebel T3i goes with me just about everywhere. I've really enjoyed learning how to use this and capturing some beautiful pictures of my beautiful S. Plus I like the fact that it's one more thing to bond with my grandfather over. Anyways, this has become a big deal in my life because I'm starting to be commissioned to do this as a more professional thing.

That about sums up the main things that I do on a daily basis (on top of being a mother and a wife). My hobby's get pushed to the background a lot of the time... yes I have hobbies other than all these things... haha. I also like to scrapbook (Project Life addict!), I intend on gardening this year, I'm on the verge of becoming a crazy coupon lady (stock pile and all...), and I like to paint. Also hoping to purchase a Silhouette Cameo in the near future so that I might also overwhelm myself a little more with all the creative possibilities that has to offer lol.

So with all that said.... welcome to My Creative Chaos!
